Back on his paws: Mr. Goldie’s journey to recovery

Mr. Goldie was a typical one-year-old tabby exploring his surroundings, when his playful curiosity took an unexpected turn. He accidentally pushed open a third-story window screen, tumbling to the ground below and breaking his leg. His owner, temporarily unhoused and staying with a friend, rushed him to Strawberry Hill Animal Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut, in search of immediate help.

Follow the link below to see a video featuring Dr. Jennifer Neal, who shares how the team at Strawberry Hill worked together to help Mr. Goldie (and his owner) through a critical situation, with the help of a grant from the AVMF REACH Program.™ Keep watching to see Tamika McKune’s heartwarming message of gratitude.

In this critical moment, Dr. Jennifer Neal knew she could rely on the AVMF REACH Program™, which provides veterinarians with the support they need to offer immediate care when financial barriers stand in the way. Thanks to the collective generosity of AVMF donors, Dr. Neal was able to say “yes” to providing the urgent treatment Mr. Goldie desperately needed.

It feels really good to help a pet in need.” —Dr. Jennifer Neal, Strawberry Hill Animal Hospital

Today, Mr. Goldie is fully healed and back to his playful, curious self. He’s a little more cautious around windows, but his story is a shining example of the power of compassionate care—and the incredible difference that donor support makes.

“Your foundation helped save my most prized possession—my love, my savior—and for that, I am forever grateful!”— Tamika McKune, Mr. Goldie’s owner
