AVMF 2024 year in review: Compassion in action
As we reflect on 2024, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) is proud to highlight the incredible strides we’ve made in advancing veterinary medicine and supporting communities in need.
Check out our year in review video to see how the unwavering generosity of our supporters helped grow our commitment to veterinary charitable care, disaster relief, education, and research.
Generosity at work
Supporting veterinary charitable care through REACH
One of the most significant 2024 initiatives was the AVMF REACH Program™, which allowed us to provide vital veterinary care to more than 1,700 animals in need. By removing financial barriers, REACH ensures that pets receive life-saving treatments, improving the health and wellbeing of countless animals and their families. Supported in part by Purina’s ProPlan Veterinary Support Mission, the program’s success is a testament to the power of collective compassion and generosity.
Disaster relief efforts
From wildfires to hurricanes, 2024 brought numerous challenges that tested the resilience of both people and animals. Through AVMF disaster relief programs, we provided emergency grants and direct aid to veterinary clinics and shelters working on the front lines. Our response efforts helped ensure that animals received urgent medical care and that veterinary community had the resources they needed to continue their essential work in crisis situations.
Supporting veterinary education
Investing in the future of veterinary medicine is a core pillar of AVMF’s mission. In 2024, we awarded hundreds of scholarships to aspiring veterinary professionals, empowering them to pursue their dreams of providing quality animal care. By alleviating financial burdens, these scholarships help shape a stronger veterinary workforce dedicated to animal health and welfare.
Funding groundbreaking research
Advancements in veterinary science are crucial for improving animal care, and AVMF remains committed to supporting innovative research projects. In 2024, we again partnered with Veterinary Pharmacology Research Foundation (VPRF) to offer veterinary pharmacology grants, plus two generous fellowships to fund student research. AVMF also established new partnerships with The Stanton Foundation to support canine clinical research and the EveryCat Foundation to advance feline health through innovative research grants.
A future fueled by compassion
As we look ahead, AVMF is dedicated to expanding our reach and continuing to make a meaningful impact in the veterinary field. None of these achievements would be possible without the generosity and commitment of our donors, volunteers, and AVMA veterinarians.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. With your continued support, we can ensure that compassion remains at the heart of veterinary medicine. Here’s to another year of making a difference—together.
