Looking back to move forward together: Ways to get involved in 2025
As we reflect on the remarkable achievements of 2024, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) stands as a powerful advocate for advancing animal health and supporting veterinary professionals. Thanks to the collective generosity of our donors, together we’ve made a monumental impact—distributed over $1,500,000 in veterinary charitable care for more than 1,700 pets in need through the AVMF REACH Program™, provided $300,000 in disaster relief to organizations assisting injured and displaced animals affected by the devastation of war in Ukraine, wildfires in California and Texas, and hurricanes in North Carolina and Florida; awarded over $1,200,000 in scholarships and grants to future veterinary professionals; and supported innovative research projects that will significantly improve treatment outcomes for countless animals.
But our work is far from complete. As we prepare to meet the challenges the new year brings, we need your continued support to build on this progress and expand our reach. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or considering getting involved for the first time, there are countless ways to engage with AVMF and make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals, their families, and the veterinary community.
Here are some ways you can join our mission to create a brighter future for veterinary medicine and the pets we love:
Volunteer on the Scholarship Review Committee
In 2024, we awarded over 400 scholarships, empowering future veterinary leaders who are dedicated to advancing animal health. By joining the Scholarship Review Committee, you can play an active role in shaping the future of veterinary medicine. As a committee member, you’ll review applications and help select the next generation of leaders in the field. We are asking for only a few hours of your time over a two-week period and will provide you with everything you need. Get details >>
Be an advocate
One of the best ways to spread awareness of AVMF’s mission is to become an advocate. Here are some ways you can help grow our community of supporters:
- Share our mission with friends, family, and colleagues. Whether it’s over coffee or through social media, let people know about the important work we’re doing and encourage them to donate or get involved.
- Veterinarians & veterinary practices can become REACH Advocate Members. This program empowers veterinary practices to support the REACH program, which provides charitable healthcare for pets in need. By sharing information about REACH with your clients, you’ll help spread awareness and encourage grateful clients to support our mission. Together, we can extend a helping hand to more pets and their families.
